What is theanine?
Theanine is an amino acid found naturally in both green and black tea.
What does the theanine in tea do?
Studies have shown that when theanine is absorbed by the body, it can help to bring about a relaxed yet alert state of mind. Is it safe?
Theanine is completely safe and naturally found in delicious PG tips tea. It's an amino acid found almost exclusively in species of Camellia sinensis. That's the tea plant to you and me.
What if I add milk, lemon, sugar or artificial sweetener to my tea?
There are no scientific studies showing that the effects of theanine are reduced by the addition of milk, lemon, sugar or artificial sweetener. So you can still enjoy your favourite cuppa the way you like it, with all the benefits of theanine.
Is it found in all teas?
Theanine is naturally found in leaf teas like PG tips. In fact, tea is virtually the only dietary source of theanine, apart from the edible bay boletes mushroom. But the chances of you fitting that into your diet are pretty slim, so best stick to tea.
